About Me

Supporting women through pregnancy, birth and early motherhood

Hi, I’m Nikki, a qualified antenatal educator and yoga teacher, with additional specialist training in prenatal yoga. I trained with LushTums in the UK and Yoga Renew based in New York, USA – both highly respected schools with a strong focus on evidence-based practice and perinatal wellbeing.

I’m also a local mum of three in Wanaka, and it was through my own pregnancies, births and postnatal journeys that I discovered just how powerful these practices can be. Yoga, breath-work and mindfulness helped me feel more resourced, more connected to my body and baby, and they fundamentally changed how I experienced birth and how I parent.

Those experiences are at the heart of why I do this work.

The Classes

In many cultures, we’ve moved away from the intergenerational and community support that used to surround women as they birthed and raised their children.
The stories, skills and quiet confidence that were once passed down have, in many ways, been lost or pushed aside.

Through my classes and workshops, I’m interested in finding new ways to rebuild that sense of village – spaces where we can share knowledge, tell the truth about how it really feels, and support each other with kindness. In practice, that looks like:

  • A warm, non-judgemental space to feel heard, supported and respected

  • Practical tools for pregnancy, birth and beyond that you can use in daily life

  • A chance to explore who you are as a mother, and what you’re capable of, with curiosity and compassion

  • Opportunities to connect with other women who are walking a similar path

Everything I share is grounded in the understanding that yoga and mindfulness are evidence-based supports for both birth outcomes and maternal mental health. But just as importantly, they are simple, human practices that help you come home to yourself one breath at a time.

This is an invitation to explore together: your body, your birth, your way of mothering, and the community we can create when we show up for one another.

If you’d like to know whether a particular class or workshop is right for you, you’re very welcome to get in touch at hello@birthandbreath.co.nz.
I’d love to support you on this part of your journey.
